| Rio Dorado Lodge, Junin de los Andes
We are delighted to be able to offer clients accommodation of such quality in the heart of this fishing paradise.
The lodge is owned by Anibal Sacconi and his wife Marta, a highly respected local fly fisherman and is entirely family run. It is located on the outskirts of Junin de los Andes (a very small town) and is an ideal base for all the lakes and rivers in the region.
The lodge is designed in the “log-cabin” style to a very high standard. The bedrooms are vast, with well appointed bathrooms, mini bar, cable TV, individually contolled heating and direct line telephones.
Meals are served in the very attractive dining area, which also has fully stocked bar. There is an excellent selection of fine Argentine wines.
Marta is very accustomed to dealing with anglers and is remarkably patient when you return one our later than expected because you "just had to fish that late hatch".
The food is delicious, made up from a range of local product including beef, venison, boar and more. The menu is creative without being overdone. They have a very nice selection of local wines.
There is a very good laundry service.
Once a week, guests are invited to assemble in the “Quincho”, a large, self contained cabin, where the enormous fireplace is used for the traditional “Asado”, a lavish barbeque of lamb, beef, local game and fish.
More a fishing inn, than a lodge (it has no fishing), it is a beautifully thought-out and designed hotel set amidst charmingly landscaped grounds. 20 yards from the bedrooms you will find a well stocked fly-fishing shop. There is also a small lake stocked with trout and a swimming pool.
