Rio Irigoyen, Tierra del Fuego
Rio Irigoyen & Rio Malenguena

Following the success of the legendary La Zona operation, the same team have used their indefatigable energy and perseverence to obtain the exclusive fishing rights on these two spectacular rivers in the southern part of Tierra del Fuego.

It is no secret that Tierra del Fuego, the Southernmost tip of South America, is home to some of the largest sea run trout in the world. It is also well known that fishing for them involves wading wide, heavy rivers with a double handed rod, braving the often fierce winds that have stripped the banks of the legendary Rio Gallegos and Rio Grande.
The Rio Irigoyen, by contrast, flows into the ocean some 180km south of Rio Grande, winding its way through the lower climbs of the Andes, sheltering anglers from the often vicious winds prevalent on the Rio Grande.

Most of the river is set against a beautiful background of Antarctic and Lenga Beech trees, until, near the coast, it ermerges from this sheltered forest into the barren coastal plain for a couple of kilometers. Both the Irigoyen and its main tributary, the Malaguena, offer miles of more sheltered fishing.

These beautiful rivers also offer the rare opportunity of hooking 20lb plus fish on single handed rods on much of their run. Double handers are only needed on the lower pools.
It is also nice to know that this is also totally exclusive fishing. These rivers will not be fished by anyone else while you are there.

This is a brand new operation and the 2007/08 season is being run as exploratory . Rods will be limited to 4 per week. For the 2008/2009 there will be a maximum of 6 rods.

Accommodation comprises of beautifully appointed, double-occupancy rooms, with spacious en-suite bathrooms. All rooms have central heating. The wading room is heated by log burning stove. Meals are served in a separate cabin, equipped with sofas, a well stocked bar and internet and voip phone access. The food is of the highest order, as is the excellent selection of Argentine wines.

Travel from pool to pool will be made in brand new 6 wheel amphibious vehicles.
